Project Description

Project Description: Master Plan implementation includes a program of measures and proposed works which contribute to the rational and efficient management of water resources and aims at the meeting of the drinking water supply and irrigation needs of the wide area of Volos Municipality. The study has been implemented into four Phases which are the following:
Phase 1: Collection and recording of rough data, collection and evaluation of existing studies data and implementation of a water management system into a Geographic Information System (GIS) environment and databases
Phase 2: Processing of existing geological, hydrological and qualitative data for the determination of hydrological and hydrogeological catchments and the assessment of their water balance. Processing of water demand data for urban, tourist, irrigation and industrial water uses and estimation of the water supply and demand balance.
Phase 3: Identification of new proposed works and measures for the utilization and management of the water resources. Development and evaluation of the new proposed works alternative scenarios
Phase 4: Strategic Environmental Assessment – Finalization of Master Plan
